Mental Health Awareness Check-In On December 14, 2012, 28 people lost their lives in Newtown as a result of inadequately identified and treated mental health issues. The anniversary of this unthinkable tragedy serves as a reminder to each of us to re-examine mental health issues in our own life and in the lives of those around us (friends, relatives, colleagues, students). To assist in increasing awareness of symptoms of mental illness and available resources to treat those symptoms, faculty and students of the school psychology program at UConn offer the following resources. 12/30 UConn Police Women's Self-Defense Classes (FREE) UConn Police are offering, a Women’s self-defense program (R.A.D Systems) for Faculty/Staff: Class runs for 4 consecutive Mondays starting on December 30th, Each class is 3 hours long and begins at 5pm, ending at 8pm, with the last class being an active day of simulation where participants will be able to engage a simulated attacker under the guidance and support of our instructors. This class is being held at UConn's Hawley Armory and Women wishing to attend please follow the provided link and complete the applicant form as space is limted. There is no charge for this class. Parking Services Information Starting Monday December 16, 2013 through January 17, 2014 employees with Area 3 parking permits will be able to park in any student parking lot. Parking Services will be open Monday through Friday 8-4:30pm, resuming regular hours of 8-5, beginning January 20th.
